Italy is primarily a wine consuming nation, being the largest producer of wines in the world. Wine is indeed an integral part of Italy's culture. Wine is a life giving and enriching drink, complementing the traditional Italian meal. Beer is much less popular, although there still are very fine breweries to be found in Italy.
Among beverages coffee is on the leading position.
